Egypt deposits African free trade agreement

(MENAFN) Egypt was confirmed to have ratified an agreement to establish an African free trade zone, as the country looks to further strengthen its economic status.

Ambassador to Addis Ababa Osama Abdel Khalek confirmed that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is the eighteenth deal to be deposited by Egypt, with another four countries required to sign it.

In an online statement, the Egyptian ambassador revealed "a few minutes ago, I officially deposited Egypt AfCFTA ratification instrument."

Khalek added that making the AfCFTA go into force is included among what the country is focusing on, as President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized.
