    Yemeni war affects economy: 5m job losses in private sector

    (MENAFN) Almasdaronline news website reported businesses in Yemen to have been struggling with the impact of a war, forcing people to live without jobs.

    Since 2015, around 5 million people in Yemen employed within the private sector are now unemployed.

    Minister of social affairs Ibtihaj al-Kamal stated "the war launched by the Houthi rebels against the legitimate government has caused 5 million Yemeni workers, nearly 60 percent of the country's overall workforce, to lose their jobs in the private sector."

    According to the Yemeni minister, "the workers were the most affected by the war."

    Yemen's civil war was also confirmed to be resulting in an economic collapse, as currency is witnessing considerable decline and inflation is growing.
