    500MW solar power plant to be built in Oman

    (MENAFN) Oman will see the establishment of a solar power plant that would present a capacity of 500MW under a deal penned by a consortium.

    The consortium, which snatched the agreement back in March, includes Saudi Arabia's Acwa Power, Kuwait's Gulf Investment Corporation and Alternative Energy Projects Company.

    Ibri-2 Independent Power Producer is a project for the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP).

    Responsibilities of the consortium, as per the contract, will be covering developing, funding and establishing the project on a build, own and operate fdoundation.

    Head and CEO of Acwa Power Paddy Padmanathan affirmed that "[the project demonstrates] the government of Oman's ambitions related to renewable energy and diversifying the country's power mix, as evidenced by the scope of this project and its future potential in supporting the Sultanate"s economy."
