Inflation in Sudan marks slight decline

(MENAFN) Inflation in Sudan registered a minor decline in April to stand at 44.56 percent, from the 45.50 percent marked a month earlier.

Such a drop is shocking since it comes ahead of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a season that usually witnesses exceeding food demand.

Liquidity crisis in Sudan, as observers suggested, restricted the potential of demand for food commodities during the month.

Hikes in prices were an obstacle for a plunge in April's inflation, with the raises recording over 100 percent from last year.
