    USD144m to reach Somalia from FAO

    (MENAFN) Somalia will be receiving USD144 million as part of a plan for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to raise the amount in aid of 6 million Somalis amid severe drought.

    Through the amount, FAO would be providing assistance to 2 million Somalis who are in need of direct food security and livelihood help.

    In its Action Plan 2019, FAO affirmed: "this Action Plan builds on priorities set within the 2019 HRP (Humanitarian Response Plan), adjusting FAO's activities and targets to address the growing needs in areas worst impacted by the drought."

    It further added that Somalia is currently struggling with the effects of lack of rain as well as extended drought over several seasons.
