Turkish flour exports to Yemen account for 18 percent

(MENAFN) Exports of flour from Turkey to Yemen accounted for 18 percent of total flour exports, standing at 250,000 tons in the January-May period.

Head of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Eurasia Leadership Council, Gunhan Ulusoy explained that this is attributed to growing demand for imported flour in Yemen.

According to the chief, "in general, there is an upward trend in demand from Africa while 10 years ago the rise in Pacific Asia was on the agenda."

Ulusoy also underlined the way that African wheat demand is effortlessly outpacing its growing population, saying: "Africa's population rose 32% while wheat demand jumped 68% over the last decade."

He added: "this trend is expected to continue in the coming 10 years."
