Oman: OSC to set up 3 VLCCs with DSME

(MENAFN) Oman Shipping Company (OSC) and South Korea-based Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) penned a deal on the establishment of three environmentally-friendly very large crude carriers (VLCCs).

Both sides will be joining hands on the project in line with OSC's fleet renewal strategy.

Under the agreement, the Omani company is determined to improve its competitiveness as well as strengthening its status as a market leader and a prominent 12 VLCC operator.

The planned VLCCs are expected to inject a 10 percent hike in OSC's oil shipping revenues.

OSC stated: "the announcement has been made possible by OSC's commitment to reinvest in additional growth - increasing connectivity between Oman's ports and global ports in response to expanding customer demand and reinforcing the sultanate's logistic competitiveness."
