Lebanon eyes UAE investments in productive sectors

(MENAFN) Lebanon is targeting investments from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) into its productive sectors, believing that such a move would spur the opening of job opportunities.

UAE Ambassador to Lebanon Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi received an appeal for investments while speaking to Lebanese Economy and Trade Minister Mansour Bteish.

Bteish stated: "UAE's investment in productive sectors will contribute to creating job opportunities in the country while increasing exports from Lebanon."

It comes while Lebanon is struggling with worsening economic condition, with President Michel Aoun revealing a significant 46 percent surge in Lebanese unemployment rate.

Aoun further explained that such a figure was recorded as a result of "grave economic situation and presence of Syrian refugees."
