Gaza Grape farmers end harvest season in zero profits

(MENAFN) Grape farmers in the Gaza Strip suffered gravely during this annual harvest season, as it ended before it even began with zero profit.

This devastating condition occurred as a result of the Israeli blockade which was slapped against the Gaza Strip.

Zero profits were also attributed to the shutdown of the crossings, economic stagnation as well as hesitation seen by customers to purchase Palestinian grapes, which are national products.

Abu Selmi, a farmer, commented: "this year's plantation cost us about 25,000 U.S. dollars, but we earned nothing. We only get about 10,000 dollars and our average loss is doubled."
