Iraq grants Siemens contract for power plant

(MENAFN) Iraq's Maisan combined cycle power plant has welcomed the involvement of German conglomerate Siemens under a mega agreement.

Siemens was granted a contract valued at USD210 million by Iraq's MPC, part of Raban Al-Safina for Energy Projects (RASEP), and China's CITIC Construction Co., Ltd.

The major power project is likely to present its first power delivery on May 2021 and is expected to become a combined cycle completely at the beginning of 2022.

"Maisan combined cycle power plant project will be one of the unique projects in a series of power generation projects in Iraq's history that will stand out due to its combining innovative German technology with an experienced Chinese EPC service provider," stated Chairman of Raban Al-Safina Group Saadi Saihood.

"We are confident that such a strong team will enable us to deliver a successful project that will benefit millions of Iraqis," Saihood added.
