    Turkey's budget deficit of reaches over USD2B in June

    (MENAFN) The Turkish budget recorded a deficit of 12.05 billion lira (USD2.11 billion) in June, according to official data.

    The Treasury and Finance Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the budget showed a preliminary deficit excluding interest payments of LBP 7.7 billion in June.

    According to the figures, the budget deficit reached 78.58 billion lira (about USD14 billion) in the first six months of the year, compared with 46.1 billion liras in the same period of 2018. The government expects a deficit of 80.6 billion lire (about USD16 billion) While last year's deficit exceeded USD27 billion.

    In parallel, official data revealed yesterday, a new rise in the unemployment rate in Turkey, to 13 percent in April. Unemployment rose 3.3 percent year-on-year, with the number of unemployed aged 15 years and over rising by 1.1 million and 4.2 million in April, the statistics agency said in a statement.
