    S. Sudan to execute power deals with Uganda, Ethiopia

(MENAFN) South Sudan was announced to be looking to execute a number of deals on the import of electricity secured with Uganda and Ethiopia.

Under the agreements, power will be transmitted to South Sudan's border areas with a purpose to achieve stronger economic rebound.

A contract was sealed between South Sudan and Uganda on linking Kaya, Nimule and Kajo Keji border towns for the transport of power from the 600 MW Karuma dam.

Energy and dams minister Dhieu Mathok stated: "we signed the MoU and translated it into bilateral agreement and we are now supposed to sign the power-purchase agreement because Uganda said that they will take responsibility for the costs but they will recover their money from the (tariff) collection."
