    Turkey, Russia urged to lock USD100b trade target

    (MENAFN) Turkish trade minister Ruhsar Pekcan called on the country and Russia to accomplish their targeted USD100 billion of bilateral trade "as soon as possible."

    Last year, the trade minister noted, bilateral trade between Turkey and Russia reached USD25.7 billion from the USD33.3 billion achieved in 2012.

    Addressing the Turkey-Russia Economic Councils' 20th Joint Meeting, the minister pointed out that Turkey exported USD3.4 billion worth of products to Russia while imports hit USD22.3 billion.

    Pekcan highlighted the significance of witnessing balance in Turkish-Russian trade.

    She further added that "there is serious potential [between Russia and Turkey], the governments are ready to provide all support to businesspeople."
