    13.2 percent surge in Turkish tourism revenue

    (MENAFN) On Wednesday, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) unveiled that a 13.2 percent boost was registered in the country for tourism revenues from April to June 2019.

    During the second quarter, Turkey was able to generate USD 8 billion in its tourism revenue from figures seen during the same period in 2018.

    Foreign visitors accounted for 87.8 percent of tourism revenues, not including GSM roaming and marina service spending during the three-month period.

    According to the statistics institute, the average spending of a tourist reached USD625 per capita during the period.

    TurkStat added that "in this quarter, while the average expenditure of foreigners was $607 per capita, the average expenditure of Turkish citizens residing abroad was $766 per capita."
