EgyptERA hikes power selling tariff by 14.55 percent

(MENAFN) Egypt's Electric Utility & Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA) is imposing hikes by 14.55 percent in the selling tariff of power generated via projects the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) own.

EgyptERA passed the decision in order to sell energy generated from solar and wind stations for 55 piasters per kw/h from the current 48 piasters, as revealed sources at the Ministry of Electricity.

Last year during the same month, a 41 percent hike slapped selling production of Zafarana and Kuraymat energy projects to eventually reach 55 piasters.

Sources confirmed that the boost would lend NREA a hand in its efforts to cut losses that it suffered from past low tariffs compared to the private sector projects.
