    Increase in Qatari account surplus

(MENAFN) Qatar registered a boost in its current account surplus, standing at QR57.7 billion last year while reporting QR65.1 billion in its deficit for 2017.

Over the past three years, Qatar kept on recording deficits in a row as the GCC nation witnessed hikes in exports of goods.

Boosts in goods exports were achieved as a result of an increase in average global energy prices, with capital and financial account posting a small surplus.

Last year, a 2.6 percent jump was seen in the surplus to reach QR60 billion while the current account surplus hit 8.7 percent in the GDP to seal a 3.8 percent surge.
