    USD25b debt payment made by Egypt

    (MENAFN) Over a two-year period, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) revealed, the country was able to make a USD25 billion payment as debt installments and their due interests.

    CBE confirmed that USD21 billion of the total paid amount went to debt installments while the rest was delivered as debt interests from late March 2017 until the same period this year.

    Foreign debt of Egypt was unveiled this month to have stood at USD106.2 billion late March this year, a boost from last year's USD88.2 billion.

    Domestic debt was also showed by the central bank to have reached around USD248 billion during the period.

    Governor of CBE Tarek Amer emphasized more than once that the country's debts are "within safe limits according to international standards."
