    Tourism losses in Syria hit USD2.3t

    (MENAFN) Syria's tourism minister Rami Radwan revealed USD2.3 trillion worth of losses to have been inflicted on the tourism sector of the country as a result of the war.

    Losses were unveiled to be covering direct losses, including damages on hotels, historical and religious sites and material damages along with indirect losses, including employment and trade and services revenues.

    Minister Radwan affirmed that "tourism is a private activity and affects mainly the middle classes."

    "Overall, 259,000 direct and indirect jobs were lost," he stressed, adding 9 million tourists were received in the country ahead of the war in 2010.
