    USD164m treasury bills go live in Qatar

    (MENAFN) Qatar Central Bank (QCB) announced the issue of around USD164 million worth of treasury bills, which have been floated for three, six and nine months.

    According to the bank statement, "the step is part of the QCB's monetary policy initiatives and efforts to strengthen the financial system as well as to activate the tools available for the open market operations."

    Under the plan, the central bank will be distributing the value of the treasury bills at 1.96 percent of interest rate for three months.

    Meanwhile an interest rate of 1.98 percent will be seen for sixth months and for nine months will be set at 2.01 percent.

    The treasury bills are issued via auction for banks that are running within the GCC nation.
