    UAE eyes banking ties with U.S.

    (MENAFN) Lenders of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States are exploring means to reinforce and deepen their cooperation in finance and banking.

    This comes while the UAE is looking to make sure that its banks are always having a solid compliance with international rules.

    Abu Dhabi is hosting discussions between the UAE Banks Federation (UBF) and a delegation from the U.S. with Treasury undersecretary Sigal Mandelker as its head.

    During the meeting, participants are mulling over main financial concerns that affect the two countries, along with exploring cooperation in the banking sector.

    UBF Chairman Abdulaziz Al Ghurair stated "a critical focus for us is tackling growing global threats such as money laundering and illicit financing, in order to effectively help create a fair, transparent and sustainable operating financial system."
