    USD430,000 grant reaches Tunisia from U.S.

    (MENAFN) Tunisia was announced by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) to be receiving a grant worth USD430,000 from the United States, seeking the recovery of the historic Amphitheatre of El Jem site.

    Using the grant, Tunisia will be preserving the landmark archaeological site which was added back in 1979 into the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    The U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation presented the grant of which the U.S. Embassy to Tunisia proposed for the sake of the site's preservation and restoration.

    Mohamed Zine El-Abidine, Tunisian Minister of Culture, stated "the Tunisian-American partnership in restoration and preservation will help to integrate urban archaeological wealth in the economic circuit through tourism."
