    Egypt expects growth of 6.4 percent, 6.2 percent in 2020/21

    (MENAFN) Egypt's Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said that the government is targeting optimistic results for the coming fiscal year regarding financial indices, with a growth rate of 6.4 percent and a decreased overall budget shortfall to 6.2 percent.

    Maait stated that the budget's preliminary statement for the fiscal year 2020/21 also targets to reduce the local debt-to-GDP ratio to 80 percent.

    The minister clarified that the FY 2020/21 budget focuses on applying large scale, profound structural reforms to push the private sector to be the train of economic development.

    The government is targeting 6 percent growth in GDP this fiscal year, a deficit of 7.2 percent and a debt-to-GDP ratio of 82 percent.
