    32.2 percent surge in Egypt-COMESA trade

    (MENAFN) Egypt registered a 32.2 percent boost on annual basis in its trade with the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) members for last year to stand at USD2.952 billion.

    Egyptian exports to member states of the COMESA surged by 17.2 percent year-on-year to hit USD1.908 billion, as revealed the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

    In a statement, the Egyptian statistics agency unveiled a 72.5 percent surge in imports from COMESA members on annual basis to account for USD1.44 billion.

    Over the past period, Egypt was able to see some signals of an economic rebound as it goes through tough economic reforms which cover tax increases and reduction on energy subsidy.
