    Trade deficit decreases to USD3.22 billion in Egypt

    (MENAFN) The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that, in October, Egypt's trade deficit decreased from USD4.75billion in 2018, to a decrease of 32.2 percent, to USD3.22billion in the same period in 2019.


    According to CAPMAS, Egypt's exports dropped by 4.4 percent to USD2.39billion in October, down from USD2.50billion in the same period in 2018.


    The CAPMAS attributed the decline in exports worth to the drop of some commodities, such as petroleum products by 31.1 percent, crude oil by 17.2 percent, fertilizers by 20.1 percent, and plastics by 4.1 percent.


    In October, the worth of some exported commodities grew, like ready-to-wear clothes by 8.3 percent, fresh fruit by 10.2 percent, dairy products by 10.9 percent, and ready-made textiles by 10.8 percent.
