    Jordan: inflation increases by 1.68 percent to reach 101.57 points

    (MENAFN) Official figures showed that, in January, the yearly Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation grew by 1.68 percent standing at 101.57 points in comparison with 99.89 points in the same month of 2019.


    Data by the Department of Statistics (DOS) showed that, the basic CPI for January, measured by excluding the most price-volatile commodities and services, including foodstuffs, fuel and lighting, and transportation, reached 68.21 points, an increase of 1.01 percent from 67.53 points recorded in 2019.


    Based on the results of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey for 2018, the DOS updated the CPI baseline year to 2018 instead of 2010.
