    Turkey's benchmark stock index spikes 3,325.23 points

    (MENAFN) On Tuesday, Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 3.95 percent, or 3,325.23 points to begin the day at 87,571.40 points; Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 1.81 percent at 84,246.17 points, with a daily trading volume of USD1.2 billion at Monday's close.


    In comparison with 6.5790 at the earlier close, the USD/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 6.5130 starting from 09:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday.


    The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell to 7.0320, compared to 7.0980, and one British pound traded for 7.6040 Turkish liras; it was 7.6800 at the last day's close.


    Starting from a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday, one barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around USD28.20.
