    Turkey's benchmark stock index climbs 1.38 percent

    (MENAFN) On Wednesday, Turkey's benchmark stock index began the day at 90,518.91 points after it climbed 1.38 percent, or 1,232.69 points.


    Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 5.98 percent at 89,286.25 points, with a daily trading volume of USD1.4 billion at Tuesday's close.


    On Wednesday, the USD/Turkish lira exchange rate reached at 6, 4530 starting from 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) and in comparison with 6.9780, and one British pound traded for 7.6510 Turkish liras, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate arrived at 6.9830; it was 7.6050 at the earlier day's close.


    On Wednesday, one barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around USD27.95 starting from 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
