    Turkey's electricity production climbs by 3.13 percent in January 2020

    (MENAFN) Latest data issued by Turkey's energy watchdog showed that, in comparison January 2019, Turkey's electricity production grew by 3.13 percent in January 2020.


    According to report by Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), in comparison with 25,763 million kWh in January 2019, total electricity production climbed to approximately 26,570 million kilowatt-hours (kWh).


    28.27 percent of Turkey's electricity is from natural gas, 23.57 percent from import coal and 20.57 percent from hydropower. Lignite, wind, geothermal, biomass, hard coal, asphaltite, fuel oil, solar and diesel generated the remaining share.


    Consumption in the industrial sector witnessed the highest share at 41.77 percent, and then the commercial sector with 28 percent; residential usage was in 3rd place with 27 percent, while agricultural irrigation and street lighting accounted for the remainder.
