MEA losing USD35 million monthly due to COVID-19

(MENAFN) Lebanon's Middle East Airlines (MEA) is losing USD35 million monthly because of the outbreak of coronavirus and the closure of Beirut's airport, according to MEA chairman Mohammad Hout.

Hout started a conference after MEA were criticized by many for charging Lebanese returnees high tickets prices without asking to repatriate expats and students on MEA's expense.

The evacuation is costing MEA USD20 million while ticket prices only reflect the cost of flights, as said by Hout.

He added that, "I am not ready to use the company's cash in light of a crisis that we don't know when it will end".
