    Abu Dhabi's electricity production records 1.4 percent growth in 2019

    (MENAFN) The emirate's electricity production registered a 1.4 percent expansion last year as the available capacity increased to 16,622 MW, according to the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE).

    As said in the department's yearly technical report, the total electricity system demand rose at 11,080 MW on July 11, a 1.9 percent climb from 2019 (10,876 MW).

    The sector generated 84,182 GWh (gigawatt hours), which is a rise of 1.4 percent on the past year, while Abu Dhabi electricity generation assets had an available capacity of 16,622 MW, added the report.

    Abu Dhabi's total water demand in 2018 increased at 828 MIGD (3.76 million imperial gallons per day), over population, economic and industrial expansion as its 9 main desalination plants posted a total gross production capacity of 960 MIGD (4.36 million cubic metre per day) and produced as many as 267,107 MIG (1,214 million cubic metre) in 2018, averaging 732 MIGD (3.33 million cubic metre a day.
