    Turkish retail sector falls 0.2 percent in March

    (MENAFN) According to early statistics published on Thursday, the retail sales level with current market prices in the Turkish financial system declined marginally by 0.2 percent in March on an annual basis.

    The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) showed that the largest year-on-year drop was recorded throughout the month in non-food revenues, excluding automobile gasoline, at 8.7 percent.

    Compared to the same period last year, prices of car fuel also declined 3.2 percent, whereas sales of fruit, beverages and cigarettes reported a 17 percent jump in March.

    The amount of fabric, clothes and shoes products plunged by 28.5 percent among the non-food industries, while machines, books, telecommunications devices plummeted by 6.5 percent.
