    Turkey sees USD11.6 billion budget deficit in January-April

    The Treasury and Finance Ministry of Turkey said on Friday that the central government saw a total of USD11.6 billion in budget deficit in the period from January to April of the current year.

    The budget revenues of the country came in at a total of USD51 billion in the starting quarter of the year, representing an increase of 16 percent compared to a year earlier.

    Budget expenditures posted an increase of 19 percent since a year earlier to set at a total of USD62.5 billion in the period, resulting in a deficit of USD11.6 billion.

    The budget balance, without interest payments, saw a USD2.8 billion deficit in the starting four months of the current year.
