    Turkey builds new power plant on Ilisso Dam

    (MENAFN) The Iliso Dam, located in the Tigris River region of Turkey's southeastern Province of Mardin, witnessed the construction of the first Tribune power station on Tuesday, May 19.

    Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the occasion he joined through a conference call that "The wind of peace, brotherhood and prosperity that will blow from the Ilisu Dam will be felt in these lands for centuries."

    Highlighting the state's renewable energy renaissance, Erdogan declared that Turkey has constructed at least 585 dams over the last 18 years as of 2002.

    According to the presidential statement, the the Turkish economy is expected be enhanced by 2.8 billion Turkish liras (more than USD413 million) contributed by the most recent power station.

    The Leader also revealed "By discharging the water collected here to the Cizre Dam, which we will soon build, we will both generate 1.1 billion kilowatt/hour energy and irrigate 765,000 decares of land."
