Short term external debt stock in Turkey hits USD118.7 billion
(MENAFN)
Official data released on Wednesday showed that the short term external debt stock of Turkey came in a total of USD118.7 billion by the end of March of the current year.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) said that the external debt stock of Turkey, which matures in one less than a year or less, saw a decline of 4 percent in March in comparison with the end of 2019.
Data showed that the currency breakdown of the debt stock was made up of 48.7 percent USD, 29.8 percent Euro, 13.9 percent Turkish lira and the remaining 7.6 percent were other currencies.
The short-term external debt stock of both the banks and other sectors saw a drop of 4.2 percent to set at USD53.8 billion and USD56.6 billion in the same period.
The bank said that "from the borrowers side, the short-term debt of public sector, which consists of public banks, increased by 3.4% to $25.9 billion and the short-term debt of private sector decreased by 6.3% to $84.5 billion compared to the end of 2019".
