Turkish tea producers head to collect crops in Black Sea

(MENAFN) ِِAfter being exempted from far-reaching curfew measures against the COVID-19, the Turkish tea producers have started to move to the northeastern province of Rize to collect the annual harvest of 2020.

In an effort to stem the expansion of the outbreak, Turkey's officials set up a travel ban throughout major territories, making an exception for tea local farmers who have to move back to their fields on time to collect their leaves and buds.

Farmers signed papers promising they would comply with the new laws and regulations against COVID-19 and on their arrival in the coastal province of the Black Sea were submitted to laboratory tests by the healthcare experts.

In a statement, tea producer Servet Murzoglu said his fellow planters' bus-fulls implemented pandemic measures, including such mask wearing, and were going to complete their quarantine time at home.

Murzoglu, who traveled to Rize along with his family, further expressed that "God willing, we'll pull through this pandemic."
