Manufacturing PMI in Turkey increases to 40.9 in May

    (MENAFN)

The Turkish manufacturing sector Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) has increased to 40.9 in May, according to a monthly business survey that was published on Monday.

Istanbul Chamber of Industry has jointly released a report with London-based global data firm IHS Markit which showed that the PMI saw an expansion of 7.5 points from 33.4 recorded in last April.

The report also said that the manufacturing sector disruption in the country has stayed in May over the coronavirus outbreak.

The report said that "output and new orders slowed sharply again, albeit to lesser extents than in April, while firms scaled back employment and purchasing".
