    Economic demonstrations continue in Lebanon

    (MENAFN)

Ten citizens were wounded on Friday, June 12th as protests against economic woes stroke the streets in Lebanon with the currency recently decreasing to a record low against the dollar.

Protests entered a second day with rebels alleging the government of failing to find a way out of the economic crisis and the central bank of not reflating foreign currency to the market.

Masses of protesters gathered in parts of Beirut and accused the "banking regime." Demonstrators in Riad Al Solh Square set fire to businesses and were detached by security forces.

Protesters appeared at the provincial governor's office in northern Tripoli to protest the pound's loss of value, increasing unemployment and the high cost of living.

Security forces resorted to pepper spray when rebels began to throw rocks at the building.

Protestors repeated "revolution" and carried the Lebanese flag.
