(MENAFN) An official with the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) declared that Iran has sent two cargoes from Shahid Rajaee Port in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas to Kyrgyzstan throughout Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran (KTAI) passageway for the first time to formally start the mentioned passageway.

Mehr news agency accounted that Mostafa Ayati IRICA Director of Transit Bureau stated that the KTAI Corridor was founded as a small and unusual road for transporting cargo from Iran's southern ports to Central Asian countries.

Mostafa stated that the corridor is started by IRICA in cooperation with the International Road Transport Union (IRU), and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) under the structure of the TIR Convention.

This new road unlocks up the county to trade and growth and will allow cargo forwarders and move operators to profit from important price and time savings when transporting cargo.
