    Central Bank of Egypt issues treasury bills

    (MENAFN)The Central Bank of Egypt spotted treasury bills valued at EGP19 billion (USD1.21 billion) in support of the Finance Ministry.

    Governments resort to supporting budget shortfalls by giving bonds and treasury bills as debt instruments, and public banks are their main buyers.

    Treasury bills are considered as short-term debt instruments, with averaging from three months to a year.

    The Central Bank of Egypt stated that the worth of the first offering stood at EGP11 billion for a period of 91 days, as the second offering would be settled EGP8 billion for a period of 266 days.
