    Saudi Arabia’s stock exchange extends access to short-selling, stock-lending

    (MENAFN)Saudi Arabia’s stock exchange, Tadawul, extended access to short-selling and stock-lending, as strengthen other rules related to the activities.

    According to a statement of Tadawul on the bourse website, all suitable investors in the Saudi market are allowed to sell any stock short.

    New rules demand that the short ratio to range of daily traded rate of any security must not surpass 10 days and total net short positions must not go beyond 10 percent of the free float.

    Refinements were set to guarantee rules for those lending and borrowing securities.

    Tadawul further stated that the changes were made to develop a regulatory environment consistent with the international best practices and to provide a “motivating and competitive atmosphere with high reliability.”
