    Turkey: Banks’ short-term external debt stock drops 0.3 percent

    (MENAFN)The country’s central bank reported that Turkey's short-term external debt stock stood at USD140.8 billion in March.

    Data further showed that t that must be paid in the next 12 months increased 1.7 percent in March, in comparison to the end of 2020.

    Banks’ short-term external debt stock dropped 0.3 percent to USD57.8 billion and other sectors' short-term external debt stock increased 2 percent to USD60.3 billion in the same time span.

    The rest of the total amount, USD22.7 billion, went to the central bank.
    It further declared that "Short-term FX loans of the banks received from abroad dropped by 6.7 percent to USD8.3 billion."
