Iran to develop maritime trade through various steps
(MENAFN) Developing the maritime trade is accomplished by buying new ships and the renovation of the country’s presented maritime fleet, according to the Secretary of the Iranian Merchant Mariners Syndicate (IMMS) Saman Rezaei.
The official further declared that “Older ships have higher depreciation and maintenance costs and lower safety, so buying new ships and renovating the existing ones is a very important necessity for the country's maritime sector,” the portal of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) reported.
Also, an aging fleet is going to have numerous disadvantages and challenges including low safety, transportation restrictions, non-compliance with current necessities and standards, and high maintenance costs, Rezaei added.
Rezaei has made the remarks citing the Transport and Urban Development Ministry’s new plan for the development of a roadmap for enhancing the quality of the maritime transport fleet and the country’s northern and southern ports.
