    Saudi Arabia- Egypt to ink contracts for electricity interconnection project between

    (MENAFN)According to Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are going to sign contracts on October 5 for the electricity interconnection project amid both countries with implementation estimated to take effect in the coming year.

    The official further stated in the trial opening of the automatic control center for the New Cairo electricity grid that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the Saudi Electricity Company would ink cable, air line and transformer stations deals, and there are some contractual issues that the Saudi side is about to end.

    Al Arabiya quoted Shaker as saying that the EETC is still improving and increasing its networks to hold the capabilities to needed for future projects, including the exchange of electricity with Saudi Arabia.
