Britain to take its first step toward trade negotiations with Gulf countries
(MENAFN) On Friday, Britain is going to take its first step concerning trade discussions with the six-country Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), asking British businesses what they want an agreement to cover.
As Trade minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan seeks to establish new relations around the world after Britain’s exit from the European Union, he is targeting a deal with the GCC — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Moreover; Trevelyan is going to inaugurate a 14-week consultation, urging the public and businesses to exchange their opinions on what a deal should be like. Also, she is going to gather with representatives of the GCC in London.
The official further declared that “We want a modern, comprehensive agreement that breaks down trade barriers to a huge food and drink market and in areas like digital trade and renewable energy which will deliver well-paid jobs in all parts of the UK.”
