    Commodities transit via Iran’s railway jumps by 200 percent

    (MENAFN) According to IRIB, commodities transit via Iran’s rail transport network jumped to more than 200 percent during the first three quarters of the present Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2021) to record the biggest rise on an annual basis over the last 10 years.

    According to the data published by the Iranian Transport and Urban Development Ministry, more than 1.39 million tons of goods were transported through the country’s rail network during the stated nine months, 202 percent higher than last year’s corresponding time span in which the figure amounted at 460,000 tons.

    Based on the said data, before this level, the largest transit size had been recorded in the Iranian calendar year 1396 (ended in March 2018) when 1.2 million tons of goods had been transported.
