    Turkish budget balance registers USD21.6B deficit

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish Treasury and Finance Ministry announcement on Monday, the country’s central government budget balance registered a 192.3 billion Turkish liras (USD21.6 billion) deficit during last year.

    The figure, under the government's goal, increased by 9.7 percent from a 175.3-billion Turkish lira (USD25 billion) deficit in the prior year.

    Based on the medium-term economic scheme released in September 2021, the budget deficit was predicted to be 230 billion Turkish liras (USD27.7 billion) the previous year.

    Turkey's budget profits jumped by 36.8 percent on an annual basis to hit 1.4 trillion liras (USD158.4 billion) the previous year. Its expenses hit almost 1.6 trillion liras (USD180 billion) in 2021, soaring by 32.9 percent from a year earlier.
