    Turkish banking sector records USD7B in net profit

    (MENAFN) According to a Turkish bank regulator, the country’s banking sector recorded a net profit of 92.1 billion Turkish liras (USD7 million) in the last month of 2021.

    Based on a report by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) on Monday, the overall assets of the industry reached 9.2 trillion Turkish liras (USD697.5 billion) towards the end of the previous year, soaring up by 50.9 percent from two years ago.

    Loans, the largest sub-type of assets, stood at about 4.9 trillion Turkish liras (USD370.9 billion), recording a 37 percent rise on an annual basis.

    As per the liabilities part, deposits held at lenders in the country which are the biggest liabilities item, totaled more than 5.3 trillion Turkish liras (USD401.6 billion), increased 53.5 percent from a year ago.
