    Turkish major stock index starts Wednesday looking up

    (MENAFN) The Turkish major stock index started Tuesday’s session at 1,969.13 points, increasing 22.94, or 1.18 percent, from the last ending.

    The BIST 100 index plummeted by 0.32 percent to end Monday’s session at 1,946.19 points, with an everyday exchanging volume of 31.9 billion Turkish liras (USD2.3 billion).

    The US dollar/Turkish lira trade ratio soared to 13.8970 as of 9.30 a.m. domestic time (0630GMT), from 13.8010 at Monday's ending.

    The euro/lira trade rate also climbed to 15.5560 from 15.4910, whereas a British pound exchanged for 18.6370 liras, soaring from 18.5660 at the previous ending. Brent crude oil was sold for about USD99.90 for each barrel as of 10 a.m. domestic time.
