    Turkey’s main stock index starts Wednesday looking up

    (MENAFN) The Turkish major stock index started Wednesday’s session at 1,974.17 points, soaring by 4.27 points, or 0.22 percent, from the last ending.

    The BIST 100 index plummeted 1.01 percent to end Tuesday at 2,017.46 points, with an everyday exchanging volume of 33.6 billion Turkish liras (USD2.4 billion).

    The US dollar/Turkish lira trade rate jumped to 14.0534 on 10.09 a.m. domestic time (0709GMT), from Tuesday's ending of 13.9600.

    The euro/lira trade rate climbed to 15.5890 from 15.5510, whereas a British pound exchanged for 18.6637 liras, falling 18.7200 on Tuesday. The cost of Brent crude oil stood at about USD111.12 for each barrel.
