    Turkish major stock index starts Thursday looking up

    (MENAFN) The Turkish major stock index started Thursday’s session at 2,009.33 points, increasing 23.24, or 1.17 percent, from the last ending.

    The BIST 100 index soared 0.82 percent to end Wednesday’s trading session at 1,986.09 points, with an everyday exchanging volume of 31.9 billion Turkish liras (USD2.3 billion).

    The US dollar/Turkish lira trade rate surged to 14.1280 as of 9.30 a.m. domestic time (0630GMT), from 14.0930 at Wednesday's ending.

    The euro/lira trade rate also surged to 15.6850 from 15.6400, whereas a British pound exchanged for 18.9350 Turkish liras, jumping from 18.8570 at the last close. Brent crude oil sold for about USD116.85 for each barrel on 10 a.m. domestic time (0700GMT).
